Dean,
Roger, Andrew and I just wanted to thank you so much for coming along
to the barbecue last Sunday. We thought it went brilliantly despite the
rain and, like you I’m sure, we were so proud to see the boys run out
in their new Crusaders kit. The
photos will be worth seeing when we have them back from the photographer. We don’t have a delivery date for them yet
but I gather Ian has managed to get his photos to Alan for the website
already, so we shall be busy building player profiles over the next
few weeks. Remember, if anyone has any concerns at all
about what goes on the site about your child, please don’t hesitate
to let me know.
The
red and black appears very striking and we hope the kit will instil
much pride into the boys as they walk out onto the pitch for their new
club. With their surnames and
squad numbers on their backs too, they should be ready to take on all
that their Guildford, Shere and District League opposition has to throw
at them. Some parents have been
asking about donating funds to the Club and there has been a good response
so far to our suggestion that, to cover expenses later in the season
(such as Club fleeces for the colder weather), parents may like to sponsor
the printing of their child’s name and squad number on his shirt. To remind you, this is not a demand for more money - all the names
and numbers are being printed anyway, meaning that the shirts effectively
belong to the boys in the long term - but if you are interested to support
us by making either the suggested £20 donation or an equally appreciated
other amount, please get in touch with me.
One
of the best aspects of last Sunday afternoon for us was the very relaxed
atmosphere, which is exactly what we had in mind in setting up FC Crusaders.
This was illustrated particularly by the way those feeling fit enough
(at least beforehand !) jumped into the fray with such gusto in the
rounders game. Thank you again
for coming and for helping to make it memorable. We are certainly encouraged by this to attempt
further social events, so watch out for news over the coming months.
