"THE FRIENDLY FOOTBALL CLUB"

Introduction Club Newsletter

DIRECTIONS
1. Introduction
FC Crusaders is a new Under l0s Football Club whose focus is on helping players to achieve their potential and on ensuring they have fun while they develop their skills in a friendly, safe atmosphere in which they and their parents can be completely comfortable. The coaching centers on balancing competitiveness with sportsmanship and team spirit.
The Club is lucky to have the support of and access to the enviable facilities at Boxgrove Junior and Infants School, where the children will train and play home matches.
Affiliated to the Surrey County Youth Football Association, FC Crusaders has entered two teams for the coming season in the Guildford, Shere and District Primary League.
2. Committee
The involvement of parents is very welcome and participation in the running of the Club is actively encouraged. As the children begin their pre-season training, the first adult activity will be to elect a Management Committee (Chair, Secretary, Treasurer) to replace the provisional Management Team.
3. Home Ground
"The Field of Dreams", Boxgrove Junior and Infants School, Boxgrove Lane, Boxgrove, Guildford.

4. Team Colours

Shirts: Red and black halves. Shorts: Black. Socks: Red with black tops.

6. Club News I Website
Players and supporters will be able to read about team and personal successes as well as Club recreational activities in a regular newsletter and, it is hoped, on a website.

7. Team Structure and Matches
In a deliberate move to avoid segregation that the Club believes damages individual and team morale, two teams of equal status will be established.

The aims are that

  • No player is even remotely aware of being in an A or a B team
  • Each team is supportive of the other
  • Players get regular games, to develop confidence, match fitness and awareness
  • Parents will see some return on their free-time investment as they watch their children play and grow into rounded players and team members

Nine or ten players will be selected for each match.
8. Training
Saturday 10.00 to 11.45
Wednesday after school (optional - times to be confirmed)
The training will be designed to improve mental as well as physical skills and will include a range of activities, such as:
  • Outdoor I indoor 5-a-side at a local venue
  • Skills and tactics at our training ground
  • Video presentations
  • Laws of the game
  • Sportsmanship
9. Five Star Award Scheme (FA approved)
As part of the skills development programme, each player will have the opportunity to take part in a weekly assessment of the ball skills taught during the previous session. Each repetition of an exercise is worth one point and, as points are earned over the weeks, players receive laminated colour certificates in recognition of each stage of their achievement.

10. Fees
Final decisions on the funds required to run the Club will be made when the Committee is established, but the cost to parents will be comparable with other clubs in the area.

This is an exciting opportunity for the children to be part of a brand new club with sporting principles and for their parents to have a say in how it is run. For more information or an application form, please contact:
